Osteopathic tips this easter

Easter is coming, a time for family gatherings, chocolate indulgence, and perhaps a long weekend of gardening, or DIY. While we all look forward to the break, those extra activities can sometimes leave us feeling less like a sprightly bunny and more like we’ve been run over by one!

In this months post, we’re sharing top tips to help you enjoy Easter while keeping your body happy and pain-free.

1. Easter in the garden

The Easter weekend is prime time for garden projects. Remember that bending, digging, and reaching can strain your lower back and knees. Use proper lifting techniques, invest in ergonomic tools with long handles, and take regular breaks to stretch. If you’re planning a big project, it might be worth booking in with me/us beforehand to ensure your body is prepared.

Osteo tip: Kneel on a cushioned pad and use a gardening stool to avoid prolonged squatting.

2. Family Activities and Travel

Long car journeys to visit family or days out at theme parks can take their toll. When driving, ensure your seat is properly adjusted with good lumbar support. Take breaks every hour or two to stretch and walk around. If you’re planning activities like walking trails or Easter egg hunts with the kids, remember to wear supportive footwear and pace yourself.

Osteo tip: Pack a small cushion for lower back support during long journeys.

3. Chocolate in Moderation (We Promise We Won’t Judge!)

While we can’t deny the joy of Easter chocolate, too much sugar can contribute to inflammation in the body, potentially exacerbating aches and pains. Enjoy your treats, but balance them with plenty of water, fresh vegetables, and regular movement to keep your body feeling its best.

If the bank holiday weekend has left you feeling stiff or sore, don’t ignore it. An osteopathic treatment can help restore balance, release tension, and get you back to your normal routine feeling refreshed.
